MEET TONY SMITH - NORTHERN APPOINTEE TO THE BOARD OF GENERAL PURPOSES
After a career of 40 years with BNZ, mainly in management roles in marketing, financial and strategic planning, training and development, and Business Development, and achieving banking qualifications; Tony was then the business manager for a successful natural health company for 15 years.
He was initiated on 20/9/85 in Lower Hutt Lodge No 299 and served as Master.
Tony was involved with the rollout of the 1993 renewal program and writing the training notes for Lodges, was appointed a GS and was the Provincial Membership Officer for the Wellington Province.
On moving to Auckland he joined Browns Bay Lodge No 346 and served as Master. He was promoted to PGBB and elected as the District Grand Master for the North Shore District
Former member of the National Planning and Lodge Development Team and the Vision Team.
Founding Chairman of the initial governance group developing the North Shore Masonic Centre. Founding Chairman of the NSM Charitable Trust and managed the transition to a Company and the formation of the present NSMC Shareholders’ Trust. Currently a Trustee for the North Shore Masonic Centre Shareholders Trust.
He has just completed 3 years as Div. GM of the Northern Division.
Married to Shirley who supports his Masonic involvement, and has an adult son, Errol, who is farming in the BOP, and two step daughters.
Interests include sport, tai chi, yoga, alternative medicine, art, wine, travel, yachting, fishing and Freemasonry.
