NEW ZEALAND PACIFIC CELEBRATING 175 YEARS   ...cntd
We aren’t meeting on exactly the same day of the week as that was a Wednesday nor at the same venue as that was the old Southern Cross Hotel in Willis Street, Wellington long since demolished. But there will be more in attendance than on that occasion when 10 members and 2 visitors ensured the constitution of the Lodge was marked with due Masonic ceremony.

One hundred and seventy five years ago the members and visitors were summoned to the meeting by way of an announcement in the paper much the same as the following from the New Zealand Colonist and Port Nicholson Advertiser under the heading NEW ZEALAND PACIFIC LODGE OF FREE AND ACCEPTED MASONS “The Brethren of the above Lodge will celebrate the Festival of St. John the Evangelist, in their Hall, at the Southern Cross Hotel, on Tuesday the 27th instant. The Lodge will be opened at 3 o'clock p.m. The Banquet on the Table at 6 o'clock. The Brethren to appear in Masonic Clothing. By order of the W. M. T. N. Sec. December 20, 1842.

Who knows what medium, digital or otherwise will be available in 2192 let alone 2042 for our Bicentennial but this year if you click here and complete the forms you will find there you will be assured of a warm welcome at our celebrations “and for us as the oldest Masonic Lodge operating in New Zealand.“ The celebrations are an initiation ceremony Thursday 23 November 6pm at Johnsonville, a social Friday 24 November 6pm at The Wellesley and a dinner Saturday 25 November 6pm for 6:45pm at the Wellington Club. By Order of the WM, BT Sec October 30, 2017.
