'The Daylight Lodge'
Our Lodge is a daytime Lodge that means rather than meeting in the evenings which is what traditionally Freemasons do, we meet in the daytime. This suits many of our retired Brethren especially in the darker winter months.
The Lodge received its charter from the Grand Lodge of new Zealand in 1992 and we have been meeting ever since on the 3rd Wednesday of the month, January, May, July, September and November, with our installation in March. the Lodge name 'Wharite' is taken from 'Wharite mountain Peak' at the Southern end of the Ruahine ranges. The peak is 650 metres above sea level. In 1964 the New Zealand broadcasting company installed a television transmitter on the peak to enable viewers in the area to watch television broadcasts from Wellington.
We are one of the lodges that meet in the Freemason's Centre, 168 Fitzherbert Avenue, Palmerston North, 4410.
If you would be interested in joining Freemasonry and attending either a daylight Lodge like ours or another Lodge in our district you can email us for details.
